A Zone diet plan theory is a good alternative as well which encourages protein rich foods and discourages food which has lesser amount of carbs. The distribution of nutrients in the diet is a 30 percent of fat and protein each and the remaining 40 percent is given to carbs. Interestingly, next on the line we have the South Beach Diet which strongly recommends protein and gives negligible importance to carbohydrates and fats. They dieticians in this case feel that fats and carbohydrates have a very high level of starch which when transferred to one’s blood stream results in weight gain only.

For ones who are very fitness conscious, Weight watchers is an interesting diet to follow. On one hand they have a core plan which counts the density of the calories which one consumes. The second part is the flex plan which counts the number of points as per the food intake. There are points which are given to different types of food.

While all these theories are interesting and very effective, each of them are healthy and have a different theory and reasoning behind them.
